Story

The BATANA OIL Ritual

The ancestral treasure of the Miskito people.

The ancestral treasure of the Miskito people. Raw Batana Oil is cold-pressed from wild Elaeis oleifera palm kernels deep in the rainforests of La Mosquitia, Honduras. For centuries, Miskito women have relied on this sacred oil to nourish, restore, and protect their hair — a ritual passed down through generations. Unrefined and pure, it retains all its natural nutrients, antioxidants, and fatty acids. From the hands of rainforest harvesters to your daily routine, this oil bridges ancient wisdom with modern hair care.

How to Use

How to Use

Hair Treatment

Apply a generous amount to dry or damp hair, focusing on the scalp and ends. Massage gently to stimulate circulation. Leave on for 30 minutes to overnight for deep conditioning. Wash with a gentle shampoo. Use 2–3 times per week for best results.

Scalp Massage

Warm a small amount between your palms. Massage into the scalp using circular motions for 5–10 minutes to promote blood flow and hair growth. Leave on for at least 1 hour before washing.

Beard Care

Apply 2–3 drops to damp beard after cleansing. Work through from roots to tips. Style as usual. Use daily for soft, manageable facial hair.

Skin Moisturizer

Apply a thin layer to clean skin, especially on dry areas, elbows, and heels. Massage until absorbed. Use morning and night.

Pre-Shampoo Treatment

Apply to dry hair 30 minutes before shampooing to protect hair from damage during washing.

Leave-In Treatment

Apply a small amount to the ends of damp hair after washing. Do not rinse. Style as usual.

Processing

Processing Method

  1. 1

    Harvest

Wild Elaeis oleifera palm fruits are hand-harvested by Miskito communities from pristine rainforest groves in La Mosquitia.

  2. 2

    Fermentation

Fruits are traditionally fermented in clay pots for 7–10 days to soften the kernel and develop the oil's characteristic earthy aroma.

  3. 3

    Kernel Extraction

Fermented fruits are cracked open by hand to extract the nutrient-rich kernels.

  4. 4

    Cold Pressing

Kernels are cold-pressed using traditional wooden presses to extract pure oil without heat, preserving all natural compounds.

  5. 5

    Settling & Filtration

Oil is allowed to settle naturally for several days, then filtered through natural fibers to remove impurities.

  6. 6

    Packaging

Raw oil is stored in amber glass jars to protect from light degradation and maintain freshness.
