Story

The TRADITIONAL HERBS Ritual

The sword-shaped leaves of Sansevieria trifasciata, known as 'lengua de suegra' or 'snake plant,' stand architectural and resilient in Honduras' gardens and wild rocky soils.

The sword-shaped leaves of Sansevieria trifasciata, known as 'lengua de suegra' or 'snake plant,' stand architectural and resilient in Honduras' gardens and wild rocky soils. Hand-harvested from naturalized stands, these succulent leaves carry African and adapted Central American knowledge about air purification and protective wellness.

Revered for their traditional applications in respiratory support and their remarkable ability to convert CO2 at night, they are carefully dried to preserve their saponin content. Offered in cut pieces, free from ornamental hybridization or chemical growth regulators.

How to Use

How to Use

Note

Snake Plant is primarily used topically or as an air-purifying houseplant. Internal consumption is less common and should be approached with caution.

Topical Application (Leaf Gel)

Cut a fresh Snake Plant leaf lengthwise to expose the inner gel-like sap. Apply the sap directly to minor wounds, burns, cuts, or skin irritations. The natural antimicrobial properties support traditional wound healing. Apply 1-2 times daily until healed.

Poultice (For Skin Conditions)

Crush fresh Snake Plant leaves to create a pulp. Apply directly to affected skin areas as a poultice to support traditional skin healing and reduce inflammation.

Air Purification (Primary Modern Use)

Keep Snake Plant as a houseplant to naturally purify indoor air by removing toxins such as formaldehyde, benzene, and trichloroethylene.

Caution

Internal consumption of Snake Plant is not widely recommended. The plant contains saponins which can cause gastrointestinal upset. Topical and air-purifying uses are preferred.
