Story

The TRADITIONAL HERBS Ritual

The copper-red bark of Bursera simaruba, the iconic 'Indio Desnudo,' peels naturally from Honduras' tropical forests like nature's own offering of protective wisdom.

The copper-red bark of Bursera simaruba, the iconic 'Indio Desnudo,' peels naturally from Honduras' tropical forests like nature's own offering of protective wisdom. Wild-harvested with respect for the tree's remarkable regenerative capacity, this bark carries centuries of indigenous knowledge about skin protection and traditional applications.

Revered for its resinous character and ancestral significance alongside the leaves of the same sacred tree, it is carefully dried to preserve its aromatic compounds. Offered in bark pieces, free from chemical extraction or synthetic resin additives.

How to Use

How to Use

Herbal Decoction (Bark Preparation)

Take approximately 15-20g of Gumbo Limbo bark pieces and place in a pot with 2-3 cups (500-750ml) of water. Bring to a rolling boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 25-30 minutes until water reduces by one-third and turns reddish-brown. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing bark to extract maximum liquid. Drink 1 cup 2-3 times daily.

For Respiratory & Cold Support

Drink 1 cup of warm Gumbo Limbo bark decoction 2-3 times daily during seasonal challenges to support respiratory comfort and ease cold symptoms.

For Digestive Wellness

Consume 1 cup of Gumbo Limbo bark tea after meals to support healthy digestion and provide traditional stomach-soothing properties.

Topical Application (For Skin Conditions)

Prepare a strong bark decoction and allow to cool. Apply directly to affected skin areas using a clean cloth or add to bathwater for full-body application. The traditional use supports skin health and comfort.

Note

Gumbo Limbo bark contains similar properties to the leaves but is stronger and more concentrated. Both parts have been used traditionally by indigenous communities.
